HISTORY:

Tathot Sija PauL Manipur Women’s College (TSPMWC) embarked on its educational journey on November 23, 1980, as Manipur Women’s College, initially operating as a morning college at Keishamthong Girl’s High School. In 1984, a transformative moment occurred with a generous land donation, leading to its renaming in honour of Tathot Sija. The college shifted to its present location on September 7, 1987. As one of the few institutions exclusively dedicated to women’s education in Manipur, TSPMWC stands as the sole women’s college in Imphal West District, serving a densely populated area across four Assembly Constituencies. Over its 42-year history, the college has evolved into a respected institution, achieving Grant-in-Aid status from the State Government on March 27, 2021.

The college’s infrastructure has seen continuous improvement, supported by community donations and government initiatives. Notable developments include the Ram Lal Paul Science Block, an auditorium inaugurated by the Chief Minister in 1997, and a state-of-the-art multipurpose hall funded by RUSA, inaugurated in 2023. TSPMWC has hosted distinguished dignitaries, enhancing its reputation as a hub of academic excellence. Today, the college stands as a fully-fledged Arts and Science degree institution offering 21 subjects. The dedicated team of educators has consistently guided students to excel in both university examinations and positions of distinction.

The growth and stature of TSPMWC are attributed to the commitment of the Governing Body, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff, and the cooperation of the local community. The college takes pride in the sacrifices made by its Teaching Staff, essential in transforming it into an institution empowering woman through knowledge, integrity, and academic excellence. Committed to its vision and mission, TSPMWC looks forward to fostering the growth of future generations of empowered women leaders and individuals of integrity.
